Prevent heart attack by reducing blood cholesterol level
The food we take in has a direct correlation with the proper functioning of the heart. Food that is high in high fatty acids, dairy products, saturated fat and sugar are not heart friendly. These kinds of foods help in the formation of plaque within the walls of the arteries. Plaque is mainly composed of cholesterol, fat and calcium.
Normally, the pressure in the artery varies between high pressure during heart contraction and low pressure during heart expansion. In the case of plaque accumulation, heart tends to exert more pressure to pump the blood, which results in chest pain. The condition is worsened by regular intake of high fat food which further increases the thickness of the plaque, there by starting with a minor heart attack(In French crise cardiaque).
If the condition is left untreated, the plaque continues to build up inside the arterial wall and may eventually lead to heart failure. Heart failure is a condition where the heart looses the ability to function properly. Sometimes, the plaque ruptures resulting in release of more blood platelets which in turn forms blood clots inside the arterial walls. The number of blood clots also increases the chance of heart attack.
Proper diagnosis of heart’s condition involves ECG, coronary angiogram, and cardiac markers. Some times, chest radiograph and routine blood tests also help to diagnose the complications. As the cholesterol level increases, blood becomes very thick due to coagulation between blood platelets. Here are some ways to prevent a second heart attack
* Anti-platelet drug helps to remove the stickiness of the blood and is usually administered for heart patients. * Polyunsaturated fats are known to reduce the risk of heart attack, but there is no detailed report or analysis supporting its claim. * In the case of men, blood donations are known to reduce the risk of heart attack, but the condition may not improve with regular intake of fat rich foods. * People having diabetes mellitus or simply diabetes are more prone to heart attack due to high blood sugar level.
As the accumulation of fat and cholesterol(In French le cholestérol) starts right from the childhood, eating a healthy low fat should be inculcated right from the childhood instead of keeping it as an alternative. It is better to avoid cold and frozen food and replace it with fresh food and citrus based fruit juice diet, which provides all the necessary minerals and vitamins essential to our body.
